love this Josh! would be super interested to hear about cover designs between regions – one of your examples Martyr! (which I loved) was sent to me with a predominantly green and pink cover, much different to the yellow one you've referenced, and I'd love to know what determines these decisions!
Yes! I’m working on a case study to compare the UK vs US cover designs. I’ve noticed some consistent trends between the two, but doing a deep dive would be interesting.
Martyr! is unique because they feel like completely different books. Intermezzo, for instance, feels tonally consistent. I don’t believe the design teams on either side of the pond communicate with each other, but rather develop them separately.
